New Delhi: The central government will introduce a new technology tomorrow to make it easier for people to find their mobile phone if it is lost or stolen.
The Central Equipment Identity Registration (EIR) technology developed by the Department of Telematics (DoD) can easily locate lost or stolen mobile phones using their 15-digit unique identifier “IMEI” number. Also, the phone can be disabled so that it cannot be used.
This new technology has already been introduced and successfully tested in certain cities including Delhi and Mumbai.
Union Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will launch the new technology portal named Sanchar Sathi tomorrow (May 17) on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
With this, you can easily locate the stolen mobile anywhere in India. Apart from that you can also disable its services.
This new technology has already helped disable 4,70,000 lost or stolen mobile phones and locate the mobile phones of 2,40,000 people.
This will prevent misuse of the stolen mobile phone and help the police to locate it easily. Also, this new technology of the central government will help in curbing the use of fake mobile phones.
